Ships present are, from left to right; USNS Maumee (T-AO-149) with USCGC Staten Island (WAGB-278) moored outboard, USNS Wyandot (T-AKA-92) with USCGC Burton Island (WAGB-283) moored outboard and across the bay the HMNZS Endeavour (A-184), formerly the Patapsco Class Gasoline Tanker USS Namakogon (AOG-53). Bonus tidbit, though the HMNZS Endeavour would go on to serve in the New Zealand Navy for another five years, she was transferred to the Taiwanese Navy in 1976 and entered service as the ROCS Lung Chuan (AOG-507). She remained in active commission with the ROC Navy through 2005! from JC’s New Zealand Navy and Military News – Past and Present https://ift.tt/bP5QBg3 via JCs Royal New Zealand Navy Ships and News https://ift.tt/sfVzt3d |
